Lions Clubs International is one of the most well known and active nonprofit organizations worldwide.

For over 100 years, the Lions have offered services and support to countries around the world, from disaster relief and humanitarian aid to work fighting hunger and disease. 

Their website is a critical hub for member resources, donations, and sharing the story of the organization.

Challenges

An offshore team of developers was able to technically maintain the site, but they lacked the deep knowledge and expertise in best practices needed for a sustainable, accessible website. LCI needed a trusted partner for website support and maintenance, as well as strategic consulting around best practices and feature enhancements.

Solutions

We began our engagement with a detailed audit of the existing site build for best practices and areas needing improvement. We reviewed the results with the client team, and planned how we would prioritize and complete our “backlog” of items over time, while also addressing the marketing and communications team’s list of new initiatives.

As part of our support partnership, our team has contributed across a range of disciplines, from design, UX and front-end (theming) improvements to highly technical custom development. 

Tasks include ongoing improvements to website search (Solr), implementing a redesigned Member Resources hub, addressing troublesome “spam” issues on donation and contact forms, and offering support for all 12 languages on their multilingual website.

For the past several years, Electric Citizen has been the leading support service for managing the Lions website. Our team keeps the CMS maintained and updated, while adding new features and site improvements along the way.
